WELFARE AND BENEFITS: A CHALLENGE TO UNDERTAKE
by: Gamaliel A. Fulgueras, RMT

Welfare and benfit entitlements have evolved over many years influenced by previous administrations with varying objectives. The end result is a complex arrangement of multiple benefits, often interrelated, which are hard to administer accurately and equally challenging to audit. With the help of the Committee on Finance and Committee on Exhibits, the concern on welfare and benefits focused heavily on that challenge through hardwork. In 2008, through Ms. Zarlyn Banana, then Chair of the Committee on Welfare and Benefits, the board approved to allocate one hundred thousand pesos per year from the proceeds of the exhibits of the national convention.
This became the seed money of what we call the Bayanihan Fund. As a starter, an assistance of five thousand pesos may be given to the disabled members. A PAMET member may only avail the said financial assistance once in a lifetime.
However, for death, another five thousand pesos is allocated for the bereaved family of the member. A member who has contracted a dreaded/incurable disease or met an accident with amputated disability may apply for a financial assistance to PAMET Office. Attached is a sample application form of the Bayanihan Plan to be submitted to PAMET National Secretariat for evaluation of the committee. Through electronic membership system, the association can evaluate the status of the concerned member if he/she is an active member or not.
The members of the Committee on Welfare and Benefits are Treasurer Eleanor Garcia for Finance, VP Romeo Joseph Ignacio for Chapters, Auditor Luella Vertucio for Membership and Director Virginia Silvestre for Professional Ethics. PAMET PRO Gamaliel Futgueras chairs the committee. Download the Application Form |
